Prof. Ilfi Receives East Java Governor’s Award for UIN Malang’s Contribution to Environmental Protection and Management

En.peweimalang.com – The Rector of the State Islamic University (UIN) Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, Prof. Dr. Hj. Ilfi Nur Diana, M.Si, received a prestigious award from the Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, in recognition of UIN Maliki Malang’s active role in environmental protection and management.

The award, in the category of Support for the Implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education in Environmental Protection and Management, was presented directly by Governor Khofifah during the Mangrove Festival VIII, held at Martajasah Beach, Bangkalan, Madura, on Monday (November 3, 2025).

The festival, initiated by the East Java Provincial Forestry Service, began with mangrove planting and bird release activities as a collective commitment to maintaining coastal ecosystem balance.

On this occasion, Prof. Ilfi was accompanied by the Head of the General Affairs Division, Ita Hidayatus Sholihah, S.Ag., M.M., along with 13 students who actively participated in the event.

Their presence represented the tangible involvement of the university’s academic community in supporting environmental preservation and strengthening green campus values at UIN Maliki Malang.

Appreciation was also expressed by the Head of the East Java Provincial Forestry Service, Dr. Ir. Jumadi, M.MT, who praised UIN Maliki Malang for its significant contribution to developing the university’s forest area into an urban forest in Batu City.

According to him, this initiative serves as a concrete example of how higher education institutions can directly contribute to achieving ecological balance within the academic environment.

UIN Maliki Malang has been actively promoting various green campus programs, including the management of the urban forest at Campus 3 in Batu City, environmental research and community service activities, as well as student-led sustainability projects.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, the Mangrove Festival VIII also featured a performance by Kaka from “Slank,” who presented songs themed around nature conservation.

Kaka “Slank” received an award for his contribution to environmental conservation at the VIII Mangrove Festival.

Through his performance, he encouraged all participants to foster greater awareness of environmental preservation through art and real action.

The award received by Prof. Ilfi serves as a recognition of UIN Maliki Malang’s strong commitment to carrying out the Tri Dharma of Higher Education education, research, and community service with a focus on environmental sustainability.

UIN Maliki Malang remains committed to expanding collaboration with local governments, environmental organizations, and community groups to strengthen the green campus movement across East Java and Indonesia.
